Bill Brandt is a co-founder and former CEO of American Woodmark Corporation, formed in 1980 to acquire Boise Cascade Corporation’s kitchen cabinet business. American Woodmark is the third largest cabinet manufacturer nationally, serving The Home Depot, Lowe’s and major builders. Sales have grown from $35 million to over $700 million. The company went public in 1986.
Bill is the executive producer of the 2023 feature-length documentary HERE. IS. BETTER. The film follows four veterans through different PTSD therapies that change their lives in extraordinary ways. It has recently screened at several festivals, including Woodstock, Kansas City, the GI festival in San Diego, where it received the Founder’s Choice Award, and the Over-the-Rhine International Film Festival, where it won Best Feature Length Documentary.
Bill has written for numerous publications. He teaches leadership development for CEOs, and consults on strategic planning and cultural change. He has served on several for-profit and non-profit boards, including for a university, a health care system, a hospital and an international humanitarian aid organization.
He has a B.A. from Dartmouth College, and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He lives in Boston.
